National Dog Mom’s Day
Honoring All Of The Moms Out There With Furry Four-Legged Kids
Mother’s Day is a very special holiday that celebrates and honors all of the dedicated and loving moms out there. However, did you know that there is a Mother’s Day specifically for dogs? That’s right! A whole day committed to honoring and appreciating all of the dog moms in the world occurs annually every second Saturday of May. This year (2023) National Dog Mom’s Day will occur on May 13th, the day before Mother’s Day. This article will cover everything you need to know about National Dog Mom’s Day including the history, the purpose, and the importance of this wonderful holiday.
History Of National Dog Mom’s Day
National Dog Mom’s Day was first established in 2018 on a dog person’s dating app called DIG. Since then, dog people around the world have been celebrating this wonderful holiday on an annual basis. Even people outside of the DIG community have been getting in on the action and celebrating dog moms for all of their hard work and dedication.

Why Have A Holiday For Dog Moms?
Being a mom is a very challenging and rewarding experience. Whether it’s being a mother of children or for pets, it’s a big responsibility. The overall aim of National Dog Mom’s Day is to acknowledge and appreciate all of the dog moms in the world. While being a mother of children is arguably more difficult, being a dog mom comes with its own set of challenges too. It feels good to be appreciated and it’s important for dog moms everywhere to know they have our support and respect.
The Significance Behind The Holiday
Dog moms are people too! It’s easy for some people to discredit the amount of responsibility dog mom’s have for their fur kids. However, everyone’s circumstances are different and people choose the dog mom life for various reasons. For example, some women are unable to physically bear children or haven’t found the right partner to have a child with. In these cases, many people decide to have dogs instead.
Being a dog mom is about more than just caring for dogs; it’s about nurturing dogs. It’s a natural instinct for us as humans to love and care for our offspring. However, having offspring isn’t always a viable option. While raising a dog will never truly replace raising a child, it still provides a sense of parenthood and fulfillment. Having pets in our lives, similar to children, enriches our lives with joy, compassion, and love. They bring out the best in us and remind us what it means to be human.
